प्रिय नानू नागपूरकर यास,
फार दिवसांनी तुझ्याशी पत्रसंवाद घडतो आहे गेल्या वर्षभरात एका ओळीचेही ख्याली-खुशालीचे पत्र माझ्याकडून धाडले गेले नाही,याबद्दल मी मनापासून क्षमा मागते. आळस हे त्यामागचे एकमेव कारण, हे सांगणे नलगे!"केवळ लिहिता येते,म्हणून लिहिलेच पाहिजे असे नाही,त्यापेक्षा वाचावे,त्यावर चिंतन-मनन करावे"हा आमच्या आठवी -नववीच्या मराठीच्या पुस्तकातला बहुधा श्री.म. माटे यांनी लिहिलेल्या धड्यातला, ना.सी.फडके यांच्या "सारथी अणि घोडे" या पुस्तकातला उद्धृत केलेला मजकूर मला अशावेळी बरोब्बर आठवतो,त्या ओळी माझ्या नजरेसमोर बरोब्बर तरळतात,म्हणजे बघ!आताही गेले पंधरा दिवसांपासून गारठलेल्या दिल्ली -नॉएडाच्या हवेत मस्त रजईत ताणून देण्याचा मोह आवरून, हातातले पुस्तक बाजूला सारून मी हाती कागद-पेन आणि नंतर लैपटॉप धरला आहे,हेही नसे थोडके!आमच्यासारख्या आळशी लोकांची भारतवर्षातच काय,अख्ख्या जगात कमी नसावी. "उद्या एक जानेवारीपासू न नियमित व्यायाम करायचा "असा आम्ही वर्षानुवर्षे दर एकतीस डिसेम्बरला केलेला संकल्प दोन जानेवारीपासूनच बा सनात गुंडाळला जातो.मात्र हेही खरे की मार्गात कुठल्याही अडचणी आल्या तरी केलेले संकल्प तडीला नेणारे आहेत.एक उदहारण दस्तूरखुद्द माझ्याच घरात आहे. 'Charity begins at home' ह्यालाच म्हटले जात असावे. थंडी असो की उन्ह ,(पाऊस इथे येतच नाही म्हणा फारसा!) रोज जॉगिंग करणे, सकाळी दोन तास badminton खेळणे नी संध्याकाळी दोन तास टेबलटेनिस खेळणे हा माझ्या नवऱ्याचा नेम त्याच्या व्यस्त-अतिव्यस्त दिनक्रमातही चुकत नाही, म्हटल्यावर मलाच लाजल्यासारखे होते. व्यायाम टाळण्यासाठी मी काय काय सबबी शोधून काढल्या होत्या,ते आठवूनही मला लाजल्यासारखे होते. पण कां-कूं करीत का होईना,
नं तर मी नॉएडा स्टेडियम मध्ये पाच किलोमीटर चालून येते,तेव्हा यापेक्षा जगात चांगले काही असूच शकणार नाही,असे वाटू लागते.नॉएडा खरे तर हिरवाईचे शहर! हिरव्या रंगछटेनं थकलेले डोळेही निवावेत आणि नाना प्रकारच्या पक्ष्यांच्या मधुर सुरावटीनी कान तृप्त व्हावेत.सकाळचे नॉएडा स्टेडियम मधले दृश्य अगदी अनुपम. सगळे जण खेळण्यात नाहीतर व्यायाम करण्यात व्यग्र! एकीकडे भान हरपून फूटबाल खेळणारे,रंगीबेरंगी कपडयातले तरूण, दुसरीकडे मार्शल आर्ट-कराटे नाहीतर जुडो शिकणारी मुले ,तिसरीकडे ध्यानस्थ ज् येष्ठ नागरिक.धावणारयानमध्ये तर वयाचं जणू परिमाणच नसावं,अशी तल्लीनता! तिथे चालतांना तर दुतरफा आपल्यावर हिरव्या चवरया ढाळणारी घनदाट राई.चालणारयानं एखाद्या सम्राटासारखं -सम्राज्ञीसारखं तिथे चालावं! मला तर त्या भारलेल्या वातावरणात स्वर्गसुख लाभतं . बघता- बघता संकल्प पुरे नं करण्याची माझी प्रवृत्ती बदलण्याची चिन्हे दिसू लागली आहेत,असे मला वाटते.असो.
संकल्पावरून आठवले,नव्या वर्षाच्या सुरुवाती ला मला आलेल्या-म्हणजे नवऱ्यानंच पा ठवलेल्या ईमेल मधला मजकुर ,माझ्यासारख्याच संकल्पपूर्तीच्या बाबतीत कां-कूं करणारया मंडळींसाठी उपयुक्त ठरावा.

बाकी, हे सगळ अमलात आणण्याचा संकल्प तूही करशील ,याची खात्री आहे.शेवटी काय, संकल्प करावा नेटका! मीही या नवीन वर्षात,तुला नवीन वर्षाच्या हार्दिक शुभेच्छा देतानाच,दर महिन्याला तुला किमान एक पत्र लिहीण्याचा संकल्प करते आहे.आता आपल्या संकल्पांचे कसे होणार या विवंचनेत तुही बुडला असशील.
